How can an Endowment Fund help?

Through gifts and bequests to the Bethany endowment fund, we can provide sustained benefits for the church and its missions.  Here are two examples of what other churches in our conference have accomplished with their endowment funds:

#1 - Designated Gift

The original gift of $10,000 has grown to over $50,000. Now, distributions of $2,500 -3,000 are made annually to small churches in Washington DC

#2 - Undesignated Bequest in a Last Will and Testament

The original bequest of $147,000 in 1975 has been maintained while disbursing over $351,000 to date. The disbursements have been used for furnace, carpet, roof, vans, AV equipment, chairs, retaining wall, scholarships for mission trips and more. 

Because these types of results take time, the Endowment Committee is eager to build Bethany’s Fund with gifts and bequests now.  These gifts and bequests are invested immediately for long-term growth so the investment income can continue to be used for years to come.
